Food Recs!

I've been searching the web and Amazon to try to find some snacks and foods/sauces that work for a low-FODMAP diet over the past month and a half, and I have some recommendations!

I have so far tried all of these products and am pretty happy with the taste!

A lot of these recommendations come from the brand "Fody". So far they are my favorite for a decent variety of options.

Fody Salsa Verde

There are a few different options for salsas, but this is the only one I've tried thus far. I'm impressed with the flavor that I taste even though there is no onion in a salsa??

This one doesn't really give a mild/medium rating, but I'd probably put it toward a medium, although I don't have a very high spice tolerance. It has a little kick but is by no means overpowering.

I have a recipe that I will share soon with how to make your own salsa - which I do prefer to add to meals like enchiladas or breakfast burritos, but I really like being able to have this Fody Salsa Verde in the fridge for when I just want to veg out and watch TV with some chips and salsa and don't want to have to make anything.

Fody Ketchup

This one is HUGE. Most ketchups use garlic and onion spices and ketchup is such a necessary condiment to make meals taste the way they are intended.

This Fody ketchup tastes exactly as I had hoped - just like normal ketchup! My favorite way to use it lately has been ordering a burger from Moo-Yah as a lettuce wrap (we order it for carry-out) and then I bring that burger home and slap this on there.

There is nothing more sad than having to order a plain ass cheese burger, so this is a game-changer for me in feeling satiated by meals without many of the ingredients and flavors I love.

I really would recommend adding this to your fridge if you haven't already - and I've noticed my boyfriend (who does not have IBS) stealing from this ketchup vs his normal one in the fridge!

Fody Taco Sauce

I used this one for the first time today as I write this. I had ordered some carnitas tacos with white rice, lettuce and cheese. I brought them home and put them on corn tortillas, added some non-dairy sour cream, and threw this taco sauce on there.

I'm being honest when I say they tasted perfect - just like normal tacos. It was exactly how I hoped it would be! I've only used this once but you can be sure it's going to enter into my normal rotation.

Belli Welli Snacks

I ordered these when I went on a recent work trip. I wasn't sure how much food I was going to be able to eat when we were going out for dinners, so I wanted to have something I could throw in my bags and take with me in case I was hungry.

These were perfect!

They have a consistency similar to a Cliff Bar - very protein heavy and meant to fill you up. They are smaller than a Cliff Bar, which I felt was the perfect size for me. Flavor is similar as well, obviously different flavors, but the overall taste reminds me very much of the Cliff Bar.

Overall I wouldn't say these are the best thing ever, but they were really handy to pack up on the go. I have a couple in my desk at work now in case I need a snack and didn't bring enough with me. I will definitely be purchasing these again.

They have a variety sampler pack and packs for each individual flavor, I think I liked the cinnamon and the strawberry the best, but the chocolate chip and birthday cake were pretty good as well!

These are a few of the things I've found helpful to have around, and have been pretty tasty! One of the hardest parts of this low-FODMAP diet has been the lack of convenience.

When I make a full meal that is IBS friendly, usually the flavors involved really make the meal great, and I don't even think of what I'm missing out on. But when I'm at a restaurant or out shopping, or need something quick for lunch, the decisions can become overwhelming. I've almost broken into tears in the middle of the grocery store because I can't find a snack that I can eat. My goal is to keep that from happening to others by sharing these items!
